Contributor Guide



Early Learning Network BC (2013)



Purpose:

  • To share ideas and resources from our different districts and areas of expertise
  • Public and online presence for the ELN
  • Easier access
  • Build connections among participants

Presently being hosted in the US
Caution – refrain from posting personal and student information (including photos and videos)

All ELN participants can be contributors - What you need

  • A Google account (create a new one or make sure you have the password to an existing account)
  • Email Jason to be added as a contributor with the email associated with your Google account
  •  Check your email for an invitation to the blog
  •  Follow the steps to “accept” which will allow you to “Continue to Blogger”
  • In future, you can either be signed in to Google before going into the ELN blog or sign in with your Google account and password to access the blog
  •  iPad users will need to download the Blogger mobile app (Free)
Pages (headings in red)

Current and limited content will be situated under the red headings underneath blog banner




Currently only Gina and Jason can modify the content under the pages, as well as links on the right.



To update page content:

Email Jason for ELN Meetings and Agendas and ELN Meeting Minutes and to add Links, Workshops and Conferences or Book contributions


Menu Bar- will allow all contributors to create new post             
Posts:

  •  Include information about a particular topic.
  •  Can include links, images and videos – NOT DOCUMENTS (not able to upload documents); documents need to live somewhere else on the internet
  •  Jason can host a limited amount of documents in Delta

  • Add labels that apply so it makes it easy to search (labels allow visitors to look for posts on topics of interest
  • Think about what makes logical  sense when someone is looking for materials or resources
  • Post content cannot contain student information of any kind (links hosted on your district servers may contain student work if you have parental consent)
  • Make a professional choice about your information eg. your email address

Early Childhood Links

  •  Contain broad information on Early Childhood
  • If your link contains, information about a specific topic create a post instead
  • To suggest a link or update the link to your organization’s website, send an email to Jason
