ELF District Implementation Plans
  • -  $ from Ministry to be accounted for - interm report to Kira on January 30th re: plans and final report due at end of year (including list of activities and list of costs)
  • -  West Van: ordering the documents (each school site has one for each grade level K-3 as well as Start); in Jan. will host a session during the day for 1 lead ELF from each school site for an intro workshop, then will help school sites with implementation. Will host an after school session as well, giving a copy of the document to the first 30 people. Thinking about Communities of Practise model. Allison and Mary weaving the principles of ELF into daily contexts of schools. Will create a Play brochure (one pager) for educators and parents as well as a video- weaving some of the framework. The west van “thingary” of loose parts (like a remida) is available to any teacher to take materials for exploration
  • -  Sea to Sky: connecting patterns to nature and exploring materials (loose parts) and connecting to the ELF ideas
  • -  Burnaby: Early Years Plan consulting team (20 k-3 teachers and admin) working with Kim Atkinson in Nov., Feb. and May as a community of Practise and as leads supporting schools with ELF “implementation” in a variety of ways. Using provocations (quotes/critical questions) from ELF to invite collaborative dialogue at schools (eg. staff meetings, etc.) Our strong start group has met to “re imagine” their role based on conversations at our StrongStart regional meeting on Nov.20th.
  • -  Coquitlam:StrongStart/K teacher teams infusing ELF with work they are already doing and meeting monthly. Other groups are noticing ideas from the ELF in what they are already doing/with existing groups. Developing communities of practise for those keen to get the conversation going. Ordered hard copies for key groups. Mentor support teachers looking to infuse ELF into what they are already doing.
  • -  Sunshine Coast: Strong Start are a community of practise; meeting with trustees and presenting in January; exploring values and beliefs at end of Jan. and thru ELF working with Kim Atkinson. Trying to collaborate with ECE and school age.
  • -  Delta: At each StrongStart meetings one person brings in a pedagogical narration and then opens us to critical reflection and dialogue.

- Vancouver: Kim coming in Feb with K-3 educators and working with a community of practise. Inquiry groups already in place and working within those groups to weave in ELF principles. ‘Exploring Pedagogies’ blends a few inquiry groups (math/reggio/ literacy). Pedagogical Narration is the focus (collecting traces of learning along the way) with a goal to go deeper with critical reflection - inspired by session with Ann Pelo. Funding the cost of printing the books for whoever attends Kim’s session and other inquiry groups.
